this is what i made

I've been busy this past week.
I made yummy peach and raspberry freezer jam.
This is my favorite quote.  I finally did something so that I could display it.
I've been working on this afghan for over a year, but I got in some good crocheting time this past week.
Oh, and it turns out, that when you own a glue gun, there are lots of things you can make...
like headbands and magnets.

But, you can also make this:
I loved making this! The flowers are just made out of felt.
I started with buying a wreath for $1.50 at D.I.
Here it is...
I tore off the berries
and started glueing.

top of utah half marathon

I did it! I finally finished a half marathon!
Here's how it happened:
I didn't train. Bad move on my part. Woops.
Friday night Luke and I drove up to Logan, crashed on the floor of Shea and Sarah's apartment, and I woke up very early the next morning.
Sarah and I drove down there and waited, and waited, and then the race started!
Honestly, I was feeling good. I just took it slow and steady.
There were aid stations at miles 3, 6, 9, and 11.
Before I even got to the first aid station I started thinking, "Seriously? I haven't even gone 3 miles yet? Are you kidding me? How in the world am I going to run 10+ more?"
I kind of wanted to cry.
But then the first aid station came, I got some red gatorade in me, and I was good.
I ran my slow and steady jog without any problems up until mile 7. In fact, during that time I was actually really enjoying myself.
But mile 7-9 was the killer. My muscles really started to ache and my hips started hurting. I hadn't trained and prepared my muscles to run that much! I stopped for a sec to stretch out, but immediatley started cramping. Not such a great idea- so I kept jogging.
Mile 9-13 was when it was walk/jog time for the rest of the race. My legs were killing me!
But I finished!! It was a glorious moment when I could see the finish line. Of course it killed me that it was still forever away! But, I finished that race :)
The thing is, I loved it and I'd totally do it again! I felt so energized during the entire race. I loved that. It was just my muscles that kept me from going faster. I have a new motivation to run a half again, but with training this time. If I could run 7 miles straight without training, think of how much better it would be with training?
Anyway, here are some lovely photographs...

These are the wonderful people who I ran with! Nate, Sarah, and Allison. Nate's pretty much an over acheiver. He finished in like an hour and 17 minutes or something like that. Lame.

It was the best to see Luke and Shea waiting for me at the finish line :)
I really owe them because after the race I couldn't really walk, I got my period, felt like I was going to faint, etc, etc. Pretty dramatic, I know!

2 things

I just love late nights. I really never have them, but when I do, they're fun.
Also, I really loved Rachel's reception. Such a great couple and so fun to celebrate with them!
