Family

These 2 were made to be a part of each other's lives and I am so glad that I was able to be a small part of this!

Their story aired on KSL on the 10:00 p.m. news and I even got to have my own 2 seconds of fame as well.

This was the best experience I have been able to have working where I do.  Being able to be a part of this adoption really put into perspective for me what I am doing and what I am trying to accomplish.  These kids can learn to be part of a family and can learn to be loved as part of that family, unconditionally.

Work can be SO challenging some days, but these good moments and even the smallest successes make this kind of work so worth it!

Dear, December

December has been good to me.  Somehow we've made it through without really any snow to slip and slide through!

Black Friday was a hit.  I got a few good deals around 9 a.m.  Thanksgiving night at 10:30 p.m. I persuaded Luke to check out Walmart with me.  He obviously was excited.
Well, it was a bit crazy in there and I realized that I really had no desire to ever stand in those long lines and push through the crowds.

As is tradition, I decorated for Christmas on Black Friday as well.
Yes, this is the extent of my decorations.
I've been busy crafting away!
I made all of the cute ornaments for our tree.

I also made the tree skirt.  I NEVER thought I'd enjoy busting out the sewing machine.  I still don't love sewing, and on many occasions I got so frustrated with the machine that I was ready to chuck it across the room.  But, ya know... I'm proud of what I've done.
I absolutely adore the fabric, and the buttons!  Unfortunately there are some things about this project that aren't so great.  Like, the fact that the buttons are sewed on sloppy because I wasn't really sure how to make it look nice.  Also, the hole in the middle isn't measured- I just free handed that baby.  Also, I am still without an iron, which as my mom keeps telling me, really doesn't help when you are sewing. Woops!

Luke and I went to see the lights at Temple Square:

I feel bad because I was kind of grouchy that night.

Also, the Mormon Tabernacle Christmas Concert with Jane Seymour (Luke's crush, kind of mine too).
The quality of my pictures is horrible! (sorry) But the concert was fabulous!

(Jane Seymour is that small lady in the red dress)

And then of course, more time with these cute girls:

3 things

Music anyone?

One thing I'd recommend is the Glad Christmas Tidings CD with David Archuleta and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.  I LOVE it, and everyone already knows that I love David A.  His voice is so simple and beautiful.  This would be the Christmas CD I bought this year. Did I mention that I got to see this performed?

Also, I've been previewing this all night...I pretty much love this and would really love to own it as well.

I also love this:
I found a great online tutorial and think I'll make some for my little friends.
I've been in a total fabric mood lately.  I find myself wanting to buy tons of fabulous fabric with no idea of what to do with it....so, I actually had to pull out the sewing machine.  Luke had to help me figure out how to use it and thread it, and do the bobbin thing, etc. What patience he has...
So anyway, I've been working on some things.  I'll be sure to post when they are finished!
